Surf beach, Waikuku. (original painting β one off sale)
Surf beach, Waikuku.
This original painting is derived from drawings about the east coast of the south island in New Zealand. The pacific ocean rolls into Waikuku beach in Canterbury making it a popular surf spot. It is a stunning destination with its wide beach and rolling sand dunes covered with golden tussock. In the distance lies Christchurch city and in the foreground the nostalgic community of Waikuku with its surf life saving club tucked in the sand dunes.
There is something about art that transforms a space in the most delicious way. That perfect layer that adds exactly what you're craving for.
Because art isn't just about filling walls, it's about creating those pause-and-smile moments, those catch-your-breath spots that make your home uniquely yours. It's the layer that tells your story, adds your character and holds your heart.
My original work begins from a live sketch and is then transfered on to a piece of Saunders Waterford cold pressed 100% cotton paper 640gsm/300lb. Which is a very heavy grade of top quality paper that really lasts and looks beautiful under the layer of gouache paint. I love paper and pay alot of attention to this component of my work.
The paint is Windsor & Newton quality gouache, an opaque version of watercolour paint that creates soft yet vivid tones. The paper size is 76cm x 56cm.
