Love. A painting derived from drawings inside the tiny lounge of a 'turn of the century' farm cottage in Pirinoa, South Wairarapa. The room was so cosy, gentle and warm. It just reflected love and history. I stayed with a palette of warm colours including pink, red and gold to describe the soft comfort of this historic cottage.

My original work begins from a live sketch and is then transfered on to a piece of Saunders Waterford cold pressed 100% cotton paper 640gsm/300lb. Which is a very heavy grade of top quality paper that really lasts and looks beautiful under the layer of gouache paint. I love paper and pay alot of attention to this component of my work.
The paint is Windsor & Newton quality gouache, an opaque version of watercolour paint that creates soft yet vivid tones. The paper size is 76cm x 56cm.
