Derived from drawings made of the epic landforms that create this peninsula. Connecting with the gold / green colours of the gentle hills and the vibrant sea was easy. This was a large composition to reflect and describe the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

My original work begins from a live sketch and is then transfered on to a piece of Saunders Waterford cold pressed 100% cotton paper 640gsm/300lb. Which is a very heavy grade of top quality paper that really lasts and looks beautiful under the layer of gouache paint. I love paper and pay alot of attention to this component of my work.
The paint is Windsor & Newton quality gouache, an opaque version of watercolour paint that creates soft yet vivid tones. The paper size is 76cm x 56cm.
