Utilising my art to support the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary

This year, because I live and work in Nelson, I am working in collaboration with Nelson’s Brook Waimarama Sanctuary creating original art works to raise awareness of the Sanctuary and its environmental restoration activities.

I am planning four multimedia art pieces “Place”, “Birds”, “Dreams, and “Gains” which will reflect the Sanctuary's very special character and its vision for the future. 

The completed art works will be displayed in rotation in the window of Bowater Toyota, on the corner of Rutherford and Halifax Streets, Nelson between November 2017 and April 2018. 

ABOUT THE BROOK WAIMARAMA SANCTUARY

The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary is a community-based initiative working to create a pest-free wildlife sanctuary  just a few kilometres from the centre of Nelson, in NZ’s South Island. ​The project was launched in 2004 with the aim of re-creating the original natural environment in which native birds, reptiles and invertebrates will flourish and species previously lost from the area will be re-introduced.
